Event Management at a client event

Last week Amanda and I found ourselves helping out at a client event being organised at Chobham Rugby Club. It was an evening with Will Greenwood, former English rugby union player, who was part of the team that won the World Cup in 2003.

How did we become involved?

We’ve been working with our client, Simon Greenhill, to join his two websites together. He’s been running a corporate entertainment business for quite a few years now, providing professional entertainers for special events. More recently, he set up a mobile bar business, which perfectly complements the entertainment business. There should be natural cross-sell opportunities but he has two separate websites with different names. Our job is to turn two sites into one (or at least make it appear that way) so that potential customers of either business can see what else he offers and buy both as a package if that’s what they are looking for.

During the course of our conversations with Simon he mentioned he was organising the evening event with Will Greenwood and needed some help running it on the night. When he discovered that Amanda and I have event management experience he asked if we could step in and support him. How could we refuse?!

On the night

It was definitely a “roll up your sleeves and get stuck in” kind of evening! We arrived at the same time as the caterers to help with the set up and get up to speed with what we needed to do and the timings for the night.

We did everything we could to ensure the smooth running of the event. By being there and taking the organisational stress off Simon’s shoulders, we enabled him to get on with what he does best: entertaining guests and making sure everyone had a great time!
